TASS Physiotherapist - Birmingham City University Sport Organisation Birmingham City University Salary £6,000 Location BCU Sport, Alexander Stadium, Perry Barr, Birmingham Contract type Fixed Term (Part time) Closing date 13 August 2025 Job Description Birmingham City University are recruiting a Physio to lead our TASS medical delivery. The individual will provide a high quality service to the TASS athletes as well as manage the appropriate reporting and feedback processes to BCU Sport staff, NGB leads and TASS. They will work as part of a MDT to enable to connected and effective service to be provided to all TASS athletes. Employment Terms:The successful individual would be employed as a casual staff member at Birmingham City University between September 2025 through to August 2026. The candidate would be subject to an end of season review with excellent prospects for continuation thereafter for September 2026. Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team of support staff within the Centre delivering world class physiotherapy services to TASS athletes and the Priority Performance Sport programmes.Physiotherapy delivery:• Appropriate/autonomous assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and education to individual clients.• Sport specific rehabilitation and production of individual exercise programmes for injured clients.• Monitoring and reporting of treatment in an appropriate manner in line with data protection policies.• Assessment of players/athletes sporting technique and sport specific skills as incorporated into a planned rehabilitation programme.• Testing for fitness post injury as a component of final rehabilitation • Provide field support for squads and coaches as required• Evening and occasional weekend work will be part of this role• Contribute to the development of physiotherapy programmes within professional/elite sport• Perform other reasonable duties as may be required from time to time.To liaise with medical consultants, coaches and national governing body staff who have the capacity to contribute to the enhanced physiotherapy services for all TASS athletes.To work within the Health and Care and Professions Council, Chartered Society of Physiotherapy’s and the University’s Codes of Conduct and keep documentation on all aspects of injury management in accordance with professional standards.Contribute to the continued development of a comprehensive data base/audit of the assessment and treatment of athletes.Within the rules of professional confidentiality to liaise with other members of the support team as appropriate.To contribute towards the planning & delivery of specified income generating activities which integrate physiotherapy, sports medicine and sport science support.Take responsibility for continued personal and professional development of self and contribute to the development of other staff in the department through sharing of good practice via in-service training.Deliver educational material both orally and in written form to athletes, coaches and other client groups.You will from time to time be required to undertake other duties of a similar nature as reasonably required by your line manager. Essential Qualifications:A qualification at degree level (or equivalent) in physiotherapyMembership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) and registration with the Health and care Professions Council (HCPC).PHICIS Level 2 (or equivalent)Desirable Qualifications:Have, or be working towards, a post-graduate qualification at Masters level in sport and exercise medicine/sport physiotherapy/sport rehabilitation/ musculoskeletal fieldEssential Experience/Knowledge:3-5 years post graduate BSc Physiotherapy or MSc (Pre Reg) experience as a practising Chartered Physiotherapist.Experience of working in Sports Physiotherapy, preferably with athletes.Sound clinical reasoningDesirable Experience/Knowledge:An understanding of current healthcare issues relating to sports physiotherapy Experience in Youth SportEssential Skills:Proven ability to educate and motivate less experienced IDT members, athletes and coaches to adhere to the support programmes prescribed.Ability to work under pressureTo motivate physiotherapists through showing enthusiasm and commitment to best practice.Ability to prioritise own workloadExcellent problem solving and decision-making skillsExcellent communication skillsSelf-motivatedAble to work in a team as well as individuallyExcellent interpersonal skillsWillingness to work flexible / unsociable hoursDesire to support and lead less experienced physiotherapists, and through this leadership promote best practice.
