The successful candidate will work closely with players, coaches, and support staff to enhance mental resilience, optimise performance, and support overall well-being. This role requires a deep understanding of sports psychology principles, particularly within a high-intensity, team-based environment like rugby league.Key Responsibilities:Provide psychological support to players to enhance performance, manage stress, and develop mental resilience.Conduct one-on-one and group consultations focusing on motivation, confidence, focus, and mental toughness.Develop and implement mental skills training programs tailored to the needs of individual players and the team.Support players in managing pressure, dealing with injuries, overcoming performance anxiety, and maintaining a positive mindset.Work closely with coaches to integrate psychological strategies into training and game preparation.Assist with leadership development and team cohesion strategies.Provide psychological education workshops for players and staff.Conduct research and stay up to date with the latest developments in sports psychology and performance enhancement.Collaborate with medical and high-performance staff to ensure a holistic approach to player well-being.Key Requirements:A degree in Psychology (preferably a Master’s or Doctorate in Sports Psychology or a related field).Registered or accredited with a relevant professional body (e.g., HCPC, BPS, APS, BASES).Experience working in high-performance sport, preferably rugby league or a similar team sport.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with athletes, coaches, and staff.A deep understanding of mental skills training and performance psychology techniques.Ability to develop trust and rapport with players from diverse backgrounds.Knowledge of ethical considerations and confidentiality in sports psychology.A flexible and adaptable approach to working in a demanding sporting environment.Willingness to travel with the team for matches and training camps.
