Region cluster: South – (East, South East, South)
Working pattern: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) This may include working during school holidays, evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
Contract: Fixed-Term Contract until 31st March 2028, subject to renewal and funding review

Reports to: Basketball England Performance & Talent Pathway Manager

Purpose of Role

To lead and integrate the Regional Talent delivery into a nationally coherent “Basketball Pathway,” aligned with the GB Way, Player Development Framework (PDF), and 3x3 integration. The RTM will manage regional performance delivery, workforce, player tracking, and support structures to ensure a clear, data-informed, and high-performing pathway from grassroots to GB representation.

Key Accountabilities

Strategic Leadership & Pathway Coherence
• Drive regional implementation of the national Basketball Pathway, integrating Aspire, ETP, GB Performance, and 3x3 development.
• Co-develop national and regional depth charts and prioritisation models with BBF/BE staff.
• Align training standards with the GB Way and support the rollout of the Player Development Framework.
• Lead region-specific strategy plans and contribute to annual reviews of pathway KPIs and effectiveness.
• Regional Programme Management Plan and deliver a year-round calendar of Aspire Skills Camps, Super-Regional Camps, Talent Hubs, and 3x3 ID events.
• Manage regional staff, scheduling, facilities, logistics, and budgets.
• Build a reliable regional scouting network and maintain consistent athlete monitoring/reporting structures.
• Integrate regional events with national windows (e.g. GB trials, ETP selections).
• Player Identification, Management & Support
• Maintain and update U14-Senior depth charts for both 5v5 and 3x3, feeding into GB team processes.
• Conduct performance reviews with priority athletes and their clubs.
• Oversee player-welfare standards and facilitate access to support (e.g. S&C, psychology, medical).
• Embed development conversations between pathway coaches and club/school partners.

Coach & Workforce Development
• Deliver CPD aligned to the GB Way: on-court clinics, mentoring, coach observation, and remote learning.
• Support Level 2–4 qualification pathways across the workforce.
• Refresh and run the 3x3vEvent Trainer (GB player engagement across talent pathway events).
• 3x3 Integration & Performance Projects
• Design and deliver regional 3x3 ID and development activities, connected to informal, education and club participation.
• Support the regional 3x3 budget and report on progress.
• Lead targeted projects addressing key performance gaps (e.g. shooting efficiency, BBIQ) and embed learnings into camp curriculum.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
• Act as regional lead for BE in working groups, coach networks, and meetings with BBF, UK Sport, Sport England, pro clubs, and universities.
• Coordinate across home nations for regional alignment (England, Scotland, Wales).
• Represent BE/BBF at key media, sponsor, and community events to promote the talent system.

Data, Monitoring & Evaluation
• Submit monthly reporting dashboards (e.g. player progression, pathway impact, budget tracking).
• Use performance data and video analysis to evaluate training effectiveness.
• Feed into national reviews and strategy updates based on regional learning.

Operations, Compliance & Culture
• Uphold BE/BBF standards in safeguarding, EDI, GDPR, and health & safety.
• Foster a connected performance culture that champions learning, collaboration, and excellence.
• Lead post-season reviews and contribute to future planning and innovation.

Operational Accountabilities

• Pathway Leadership – Roll out the national Basketball Pathway regionally, keep depth charts current, and align all training to the GB Way.
• Programme Delivery – Run year-round Aspire, Super-Regional, Talent Hub, and 3x3 events; manage staff, venues, logistics, and budgets.
• Player & Coach Development – Track U14-Senior talent, oversee welfare support, conduct athlete reviews, and deliver GB-Way CPD plus Level 2–4 coach progression.
• 3x3 & Performance Projects – Lead 3x3 ID/development, control its budget, and run targeted projects to close key performance gaps.
• Stakeholder & Data – Represent BE with partners, align with other home nations, file monthly impact/budget dashboards, and feed insights into national strategy.
• Compliance & Culture – Uphold safeguarding, EDI, GDPR, H&S; drive a learning-focused, high-performance culture and lead post-season reviews.

Relationship Management

• Build strong working relationships with Talent Hubs, regional workforce, club coaches, and national team staff.
• Ensure Aspire delivery connects with local and national development goals.
• Liaise with performance analysts and GB team staff to support identification and progression.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Experience

• Strong track record in player and coach development within performance basketball.
• Experience leading teams and working across performance, education, and club settings.
• Knowledge of 5v5 and 3x3 structures plus an understanding of elite player development needs.
• Excellent planning, time management, and communication skills.
• Data-literate and able to operate using video and analysis platforms.
• Proven ability to influence and collaborate across multi-agency environments.

• Confident & Motivated:
Confident with a high degree of self-motivation and initiative.
• Mental Agility & Initiative: Good mental agility with the ability to use own initiative to self-organise and plan, taking account of changing and competing priorities.
• Resilience Under Pressure: Resilience and ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining excellent judgement to keep projects on track.
• Teamwork: Ability to work as a member of a team, with an understanding of what behaviours contribute to effective teamwork.
• Communications: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills demonstrating an ability to communicate to a wide range of people.

• To be open and honest in communication.
• Current, clear, enhanced DBS Check supplied to Basketball England.
• Current Safeguarding Certificate supplied to Basketball England.
• Requirement to attend planning and coordination meetings.
• Ability to work remotely.
• Ability to travel around Sub regions as and when required.
