Safeguarding Case Management Group Panel Member (volunteer) Organisation Basketball England Salary 0 Location Nationwide (remote) Contract type Volunteer (Part time) Closing date 24 July 2025 Job Description JOB TITLE: Safeguarding Case Management Group Panel MemberLOCATION: Nationwide (remote working)REPORTS TO: Safeguarding ManagerSALARY: Voluntary positionPURPOSE OF ROLE:The purpose of the CMG is to offer advice and guidance and to support the safeguarding team with the management of concerns.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:The CMG is responsible for:- Promoting co-operation, consistency, and confidence in safeguarding related decision making;- Providing independent and informed opinion applying appropriate expertise and experience to the extent require to assist the safeguarding team in the following areas:- ensure all concerns are dealt with fairly, equitably, and within appropriate timescales.- advise on practice and policy development requirements arising from concerns.- assist with decisions upon the course of action for adverse Disclosure and Barring Service disclosures that may be relevant to the assessment of potential concerns or risks in relation to children and adults at risk.- ensure consistency and appropriateness of assessments made in relation to adverse disclosures that may be relevant to the assessment of potential concerns received from the Disclosure and Barring Service.- agree interim or permanent suspensions on behalf of Basketball England.analyse any reports commission and determine whether any further actions are required including making any initial decisions regarding risk from the information received and determine how such risks are to be managed.- advise generally on matters of safeguarding within Basketball England.consider referral of individuals to the disciplinary team, the DBS and/or another Home National Association or the British Basketball Federation.EXPERIENCE:The CMG comprises of people drawn from the following roles: lead safeguarding officer, national delivery manager, national league representatives, national teams representatives, club representatives, regional welfare representative, police, social care, local authority designated officer, legal advisor, independent safeguarding adviser and those within sectors that have relevant and applicable experience.Experience within the safeguarding sector managing safeguarding concerns (children and/or adults) or providing expert advice and guidance within this area.KNOWLEDGE:- Understanding of legislation and government guidance relevant to safeguarding (e.g. Children’s Act 1989/2004, Sexual Offences Act 2003, Working together to safeguard children guidance 2023).- Knowledge of/willingness to familiarise self with all of Basketball England’s safeguarding regulations, policy, and guidance.- Awareness of safeguarding within the sport sector and the process for managing concerns within sport.- Knowledge of the Disclosure and Barring Service.SKILLS:- Participate in fair, open, and transparent deliberations and decisions that are child/adult at risk focused.- Sound decision making based on objective facts and within the parameter of legislation, policy, and guidance.- Effective risk assessment.- Analytical skills, the ability to scrutinise large reports and complex information in order to make decisions and assess risk.- Problem solving skills, the ability to identify and resolve complex matters.- The ability to work collaboratively with other CMG members and the Basketball England safeguarding team.- The ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
