About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to join our Governance Committee and help shape the future of badminton in England.

As a member of the Governance Committee, you will support the Committee’s delegated responsibilities and help ensure its work aligns with Badminton England’s strategy, policies, Articles of Association, the Code for Sports Governance and relevant legal, regulatory and funding requirements. The role provides assurance, advice and constructive challenge to the Board across governance, integrity, compliance, people, culture, disciplinary governance, safeguarding and equality, diversity and inclusion.

What You'll Be Involved In:
As part of the Governance Committee, you will:

* Support oversight of Badminton England’s governance and compliance framework.
* Contribute to the development and monitoring of the annual governance plan and associated key performance indicators.
* Provide expertise and guidance on equality, diversity and inclusion and safeguarding matters within the Committee’s remit.
* Support oversight of disciplinary governance arrangements, helping to ensure fair and consistent processes.
* Offer advice, insight and constructive challenge on governance-related matters.
* Participate in governance projects that support the organisation’s strategic priorities.
* Support clear reporting and assurance to the Board, including recommendations and progress updates.

About You:
We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in one or more of the following areas:
* Governance
* Compliance
* People and culture
* Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI)
* Safeguarding
* Disciplinary governance

You will also have:

* The ability to provide strategic oversight, assurance, advice and constructive challenge.
* Experience of developing, reviewing or improving policies and frameworks.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills.
* The confidence to contribute effectively to discussions and decision-making.
* A commitment to inclusive and ethical leadership.

Time Commitment:
This is a voluntary role, with reasonable expenses reimbursed in line with Badminton England policy.
* Minimum three-year term, with eligibility for reappointment.
* At least four committee meetings each year, held either in person or via Microsoft Teams.
* Occasional involvement in projects and activities between meetings as required.

Remuneration:

This is a voluntary position. However, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed as per Badminton England’s policy.
