Job Description
1. The Department
Our Emerging Talent and Loans Team isn’t just a department; it’s the bridge to supporting our players at the top level. Working in lockstep with the Men’s First Team, we provide elite, high-performance support to our rising stars and loan players as they compete at the highest levels across the UK and Europe.

Direct Impact: You’ll be at the heart of our talent pipeline, influencing the development of existing and future First Team regulars.

Elite Environment: Work alongside world-class staff in a fast-paced, high-stakes setting.

Global Reach: Track and support talent across the most prestigious leagues in European and UK football.

2. The Role
Are you ready to contribute to our elite player performance program? This is more than a Sport Science role—it is a unique, high-impact opportunity to represent Aston Villa across the top tiers of UK and European football.

The Opportunity: Autonomy, Travel, and Elite Exposure
Step into a position defined by trust and responsibility. You won’t just be following a program; you’ll be leading it. From day one, you will:
• Navigate the Elite Landscape: You will be working behind-the-scenes in Premier League, European and EFL environments.
• Lead with Independence: Enjoy a high level of autonomy as you travel, building vital professional relationships across multiple clubs.
• Influence the Future: Take genuine ownership of player support, directly impacting key transition moments and the long-term success of our existing and rising stars.

Your Impact: Bridge the Gap
Embedded within our First Team and Emerging Talent MDT, you will be an integral link for our ‘On Loan’ players. Your mission is to ensure that wherever our talent goes, the "Villa Standard" goes with them. You will:
• Maintain world-class alignment in physical development and monitoring.
• Uphold rigorous return-to-performance standards between Aston Villa and partner clubs.
• Optimise player health and availability to ensure every loan spell is a resounding success.

For further information about the Role, please see the Role Profile.
3. The Person
We are seeking a highly motivated, elite-level Sport Scientist who speaks the language of the First Team. You understand the demands of professional football and possess the communication skills to influence stakeholders nationally and internationally.

To be considered for this role, you will need to hold the following qualifications/registrations:

• BSc (Hons) in Sport Science (minimum 2:1)
• MSc in Strength and Conditioning (or equivalent)
• UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA) accreditation or equivalent (or in progress)

You will be an organised, analytical and proactive Sport Scientist who is comfortable working independently as well as within a multi-stakeholder MDT across the Emerging Talent and Men’s First Team. You will be able to demonstrate previous experience of delivering high quality sport science and athletic development support in a full-time capacity in an elite professional environment, ideally in a First Team or Loans setting. Confident building relationships with staff at external loans clubs, you will represent Aston Villa’s performance standards in a variety of environments, manage multiple stakeholders while keeping the player’s development and availability at the centre of your work.

The role requires a flexible approach to working hours, including weekends, in line with the demands of elite football. A full UK driving licence is essential.

4. Why join us?

Our drive to succeed is visible on the global stage, we are building a family ethos and culture to be proud of and realising our ambitious plans for the expansion and improvement of our world-class facilities.
