Nature and Scope:
England Rugby has an ambition to engage an additional 5000 state primary and secondary schools to Rugby Union by 2027. This growth will be driven by a network of 100 part-funded School Rugby Managers.

In partnership with England Rugby and Richmond School & Sixth Form College, you will be working across a network of secondary schools, primary schools and linked clubs within the geographic area of Richmondshire. You will be responsible for leading rugby development in the area, working to coordinate and facilitate activity (such as school playing opportunities and teacher training) and build systems to grow the game in schools and forge sustainable links to local clubs.

The role will involve working with Heads of PE, Senior Leadership Teams, England Rugby community staff, local external partnerships and other stakeholders, to plan and deliver inclusive and developmental rugby activity. The aim is to maximise participation, especially with currently underrepresented groups, develop staff and young leaders, provide playing opportunities and link students and schools to local community clubs.

Job Description
Responsibilities:
• Introduce and grow rugby union into a cluster of 3-4 secondary schools and c.15 primary schools per year, ensuring sustainable rugby delivery in all partnership schools by the end of the 3-year period.
• Introduce T1 Rugby (non-contact) to both boys and girls.
• Engage more young people in rugby union, using student voice to understand previous barriers to participation and school-club transition and adapting offers based on this insight.
• Upskill teachers and young leaders in rugby union delivery.
• Advocate for rugby union as curriculum activity and support staff in achieving RFU accredited courses.
• Provide rugby union as an extracurricular activity (2 clubs to be at Richmond School).
• Organise events to enable students to participate in new rugby competitions/ festivals (minimum Y5/6 Megafest, Y7 Girls T1, Y8 Mixed gender).
• Support progression and expansion of rugby union within schools where it is already delivered.
• Link and build partnerships with other RFU local delivery partners, community departments in rugby clubs (if applicable), local RFU staff and local school/college rugby providers to ensure a joined-up approach within geographic area which maximises investment.
• Work in collaboration with local clubs using local insight to develop and enhance school-club links and transition.
• Support transition of rugby participation from primary to secondary then onto further education.
• Lead on local delivery of national RFU participation programmes (such as Year 9 T1 Rugby Series).
• Collect and report on data relating to agreed Key Performance Indicators.
• Provide good new stories, case studies, models of good practice and insight which can be used across other partnerships.
