Job Description
Next Level Hockey – Camp Manager
Salary: £15.17 per hour
Hours: 8:30am–4:30pm or 9:30am–5:30pm (venue dependent)
Travel Expenses: 30p per mile after the first 35 miles per day (car share uplift available)

About Activate Camps
Activate Camps deliver fun, challenging and rewarding holiday programmes where children aged 5–16 can develop their skills, confidence and teamwork. Every camp culminates in the exciting Activate Games, where participants showcase what they’ve learned in a positive, team based environment.

About Next Level Hockey
Next Level Hockey is designed for outfield players aged 6–16. Camps focus on developing core hockey skills, game awareness, small sided matches, technical challenges and confidence-building activities. Each day provides a structured, energetic and highly engaging learning experience.

Role: Next Level Hockey Coaching Manager
As the Coaching Manager, you will be responsible for the overall running, organisation and quality of the camp. You will lead coaches, deliver high quality sessions, oversee safeguarding and ensure every child experiences a safe, enjoyable and rewarding week. You will also coach your own group and act as the primary point of contact for parents and Head Office.

Key Responsibilities
Pre Camp
• Complete all Activate training and onboarding tasks.
• Review and understand the timetable and curriculum.
• Support with grouping children and preparing the camp timetable.
During Camp
• Present professionally in full uniform and support camp set up and registration.
• Lead a group of approximately 10–15 children.
• Deliver fun, engaging and technically focused hockey sessions in line with the curriculum.
• Support and develop other coaches through observation and feedback.
• Assist with lunchtime, breaktime and Extra Time Club supervision.
• Oversee health, safety and safeguarding across camp.
• Communicate with parents where required.
• Liaise with Head Office as the main on site contact.
• Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately (registers, accident/incident forms, pre session checks, hazard spotting, daily checklists).
• Maintain a clean, safe camp environment and report issues promptly.
• Lead team challenges and daily Super Star of the Day ceremonies.
• Ensure coaches deliver all required daily activities (Passing, Shooting, Conditioning Games and Fundamentals).
Post Camp
• Pack away equipment safely.
• Submit coaching session logs to Head Office.
• Participate in a staff debrief.
• Prepare sessions and equipment for the next day.

What We’re Looking For
Essential
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
• Strong safeguarding knowledge.
• Clear understanding of health and safety.
• Passion for working with children.
• England Hockey Level 2 Coach qualification or significant hockey coaching experience.
• Excellent technical knowledge of hockey.
• Confident communicator with parents.
• Experience in a similar coaching or camp leadership role.
Desirable
• Level 3 hockey coaching qualification.
• Previous experience on holiday camps (ideally in a senior role).
• Experience mentoring or developing coaches.
• Evidence of ongoing CPD.
• Experience managing a staff team.
