Job Description
Next Level Hockey Coach
Salary: £12.16 – £14.93 per hour (depending on experience)
Hours: 8:30am–4:30pm OR 9:30am–5:30pm (venue dependent)
Travel Expenses: 30p per mile after the first 35 miles per day

Activate Camps provide a fun, safe and engaging environment for children and teenagers to develop their skills through technical sessions, challenges, gameplay and the end of camp Activate Games. Teamwork, positivity and showcasing BEST values (Bravery, Enthusiasm, Sportsmanship, Teamwork) are at the heart of everything we do.

About Next Level Hockey
Designed for children aged 6–16, Next Level Hockey Camps focus on developing fundamental skills, confidence and game awareness. Using small sided games, skills circuits and exciting challenges, participants benefit from a dynamic, progressive and enjoyable hockey experience.

Role Overview: Next Level Hockey Coach
As a Next Level Hockey Coach, you will lead your own group of players, delivering fun, structured and high quality sessions in line with the Next Level Hockey curriculum. You will provide a safe, positive environment, adapting coaching delivery to meet the needs of your group and helping every participant to be at their BEST.
Coaches must ensure all players wear required safety equipment (e.g., mouth guards and shin pads where appropriate).

Key Responsibilities
Pre Camp
• Complete Activate Camps training.
• Complete all onboarding tasks accurately and on time.
• Review and understand the camp timetable and curriculum.
During Camp
• Present professionally in full Activate uniform.
• Support camp set up and registration.
• Lead a group of approximately 10–15 children.
• Deliver fun, engaging and technically challenging sessions, adapting as needed.
• Implement coaching points and progressions.
• Deliver a passing & receiving, shooting, technical and fundamentals session each day.
• Support downtime supervision, including breaks and lunchtime.
• Lead Extra Time Club activities.
• Safeguard the health, safety and wellbeing of all children.
• Support grouping on Day 1 by assessing ability levels.
• Maintain a clean and safe camp environment.
• Communicate with parents when required by the Camp Manager.
• Lead a team during Activate Games Activities and apply the camp points system.
• Prepare children for collection at the end of each day.
• React to and report hazards or incidents professionally.
• Support reflective practice within your group.
Post Camp
• Ensure all equipment is safely packed away.
• Complete coaching session logs and submit to Head Office.
• Participate in staff debriefs.
• Prepare plans and equipment for the next day.

What We’re Looking For
Essential
• A valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
• Strong safeguarding awareness.
• Basic understanding of health and safety.
• Experience leading groups of children.
• Passion for working with young people.
• England Hockey Level 2 (or higher) coaching qualification OR equivalent experience.
• Detailed knowledge of hockey.
• Good communication skills, including with parents.
Desirable
• Previous experience working on a hockey camp.
• Evidence of regular England Hockey CPD.
• Experience supporting or delivering lacrosse activities.
