Job Description
Let’s Play Football – Coaching Manager
Pay: £15.17 per hour
Hours: 8:30–4:30pm OR 9:30–5:30pm (venue dependent)
Travel Expenses: 30p per mile after the first 35 miles per day
Car share uplift available

Lead an exceptional football experience that inspires young players aged 5–16.
Let’s Play Football is a 3 day and 5 day football skills and freestyle camp designed to give children the ultimate football experience. Developed in partnership with Freestyle Superstar Jamie Knight, the camp blends freestyle skills, coaching sessions, creative challenges, small sided games and our unique Skills Challenges.

We’re looking for an organised, motivated and experienced Coaching Manager to take responsibility for the quality, safety and delivery of each camp, ensuring every child has a fun, engaging and rewarding experience—the Activate Way.

About Activate Camps
Activate Camps deliver high quality holiday experiences for children and teenagers across the UK. Each camp focuses on skill development, gameplay, challenges and teamwork, culminating in the Activate Games. Participants earn points by showcasing BEST behaviour: Bravery, Enthusiasm, Sportsmanship and Teamwork.

The Role
As the Let’s Play Football Coaching Manager, you will oversee the smooth running of the camp, manage the coaching team, ensure the curriculum is delivered effectively and create a positive environment for children, parents and staff. You may also lead your own coaching group, depending on participant numbers.

Key Responsibilities
Pre Camp
• Complete all required Activate Camps training
• Finish onboarding tasks accurately and on time
• Review and understand the full timetable and football curriculum
• Support with grouping children and creating the timetable
During Camp
• Present professionally in full Activate uniform
• Support camp setup and registration
• Deliver an engaging Extra Time Club activity
• Assess players’ abilities on Day 1 to support accurate grouping
• Supervise downtime (breaks, lunchtimes)
• Lead a group of 10–15 children if required
• Deliver fun, challenging football sessions in line with the curriculum
• Support and mentor coaches and assistant coaches
• Assist the Camp Manager with pastoral, safeguarding or injury concerns
• Take responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of all children onsite
• Communicate with parents when required
• Act as the main point of contact for Head Office
• Run reflective practice sessions and encourage goal setting
• Support end of day collection and ensure children leave prepared for the next day
• Ensure coaches deliver daily core activities: Passing, Shooting, Conditioning Games, Fundamentals
• Plan and lead Team Challenge activities and implement the points system
• Complete required paperwork: registers, incident forms, hazard spotting, checklists
• Lead the daily Super Star of the Day presentation
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety across the site
• Respond to hazards and incidents promptly and professionally
• Complete an equipment inventory on Day 1
Post Camp
• Pack away equipment securely
• Submit coaching session logs to Head Office
• Participate in a constructive team debrief
• Prepare equipment and plans for the following day

What We’re Looking For
Essential
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
• Strong safeguarding and Health & Safety understanding
• Experience leading a group
• FA Level 2 qualification or significant football coaching experience
• Excellent technical football knowledge
• Confident communicator with children, parents and staff
• Passion for working with children
• Experience in a head coach or similar senior role
Desirable
• Level 3 Football Coaching qualification
• Experience mentoring or developing other coaches
• Previous senior experience on holiday camps
• Evidence of regular CPD
• Experience managing a team of staff
