Position: Coaching Manager at The Cricket Academy

Location: Wellington School (TA21 8NT)

Camp Dates:
7th-9th April
28th July- 1st August

Pay: £13.00 per hour (depending on age and experience) + holiday pay

Hours: Core hours: 8:30-4:30pm or 9:30-5:30pm (venue dependent)

Expenses: 30p per mile (after the first 35 miles/day) with a car share uplift available

About Activate Camps:
Activate Camps deliver fun, safe, and skill-enhancing sport & activity holiday camps for children and teenagers. Through teamwork, technical challenges, and gameplay, participants develop their skills while earning points for the exciting Activate Games.

About The Cricket Academy

The Cricket Academy (TCA) provides children and teenagers the opportunity to develop their cricketing skills through innovative games, coaching, and match play. Each day includes engaging technical sessions focusing on batting, bowling, and fielding, as well as gameplay and challenges. All sessions are tailored to participants' ages and are delivered by ECB-qualified coaches using professional-grade coaching equipment.

The Role:
As a Coaching Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, quality, safety, and enjoyment of the camp. You will coordinate with venue contacts, Activate Head Office, camp staff, and other site users to maintain high standards from setup to close. You will also be responsible for managing groupings based on age and ability and leading coaching sessions.

You will serve as the primary point of contact for parents, ensuring a professional and welcoming registration process and providing feedback on their child's progression and achievements. Your role is crucial in delivering a camp experience the “Activate Way.”

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Camp:

Complete Activate Camps training and onboarding tasks.
Review and prepare the camp timetable and curriculum.
Support staff team readiness
During Camp:

Lead camp setup, registration, and daily operations.
Supervise and mentor coaches, ensuring delivery of engaging sessions.
Organise fun activities, including Extra time club, team challenges and the Activate Games.
Oversee pastoral care, safeguarding, and incident management.
Coach & develop a group of children in cricket.
Ensure the flow of the curriculum is implemented for all children.
Maintain camp paperwork and health and safety compliance.

Post-Camp:

Complete camp debrief and feedback with staff.
Submit completed paperwork and ensure equipment is packed away properly.
What We're Looking For:

Essential:

Valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to complete one).
Strong safeguarding knowledge.
A comprehensive understanding of Health and Safety.
Leadership experience with children or teams.
Passionate about working with children.
Good communication skills.
ECB Cricket Level 2 qualification, or significant experience coaching Cricket.
Excellent technical understanding of Cricket.
Desirable:

Previous holiday camp experience in a senior position.
Sport coaching qualification.
Experience mentoring or developing other coaches.
Evidence of CPD (Continued Professional Development).
Level 3 ECB Cricket coaching qualification.
