Theseinclude a recent multi-sport festival in Birmingham and disabilityinclusive swimming sessions in East Bristol.Role purposeSummaryAccess Sport is looking for a part-time Volunteer Coordinator to support the development of inclusive volunteering pathways in grassroots football across Sheffield.This role is funded through a partnership with The FA, focused onincreasing the number and diversity of volunteers within grassrootsfootball, with a particular emphasis on disabled volunteers and thosesupporting the disability football pathway.The post holder will work closely with community organisations, disability groups, grassroots clubs and FA partners to recruit, support and retain volunteers, helping clubs build sustainable and inclusive volunteering structures.Community sport provides many benefits for disabled and underservedyoung people, including improving physical and mental wellbeing,confidence, life skills and community connection. However, disabledpeople remain significantly less likely to be active than non-disabledpeople, and many communities face barriers to participation. This roleplays a key role in strengthening inclusive pathways into volunteering and football locally.ResponsibilitiesGrassroots football volunteer development• Support the recruitment, development and retention of volunteerswithin grassroots football in Sheffield, with a focus on disabledvolunteers and those supporting the disability pathway.• Engage local community groups, disability organisations andsupport networks to raise awareness of volunteering opportunitiesin football.• Collaborate with FA partners and local football stakeholders tocoordinate inclusive volunteering pathways.• Work with the County FA, clubs and leagues to identifyvolunteering needs and support the development of sustainablevolunteer plans.• Support clubs to create inclusive volunteering environments thatreflect and engage their local communities.• Deliver or facilitate learning and development opportunities forvolunteers and volunteer managers, including relevant FAprogrammes.• Support recognition and retention approaches that improvevolunteer experience and satisfaction.Community engagement• Build relationships with community organisations, disabilitycharities, support groups, education providers and local partnersto connect communities with volunteering opportunities.• Engage directly with potential volunteers to help them understandthe different roles available within grassroots football.• Carry out regular visits to clubs (during evenings and weekendswhen required) to build relationships and better understand localneeds.• Deliver Disability Inclusion and inclusive practice training to clubs,volunteers and community partners.• Contribute to the promotion and marketing materials to promoteinclusive sessions to the local communities.Monitoring and evaluation• Support monitoring and evaluation requirements across bothAccess Sport and FA programme priorities.• Collect participation and volunteer data, attendance records andprogramme insights using internal systems.• Gather case studies, stories and feedback to demonstrate impactand inform programme development.• Contribute to reporting requirements for funders and partnersPerson specificationSkills/ experienceEssential• Experience of supporting, volunteering or helping out at localcommunity sports clubs or teams.• A passion for empowering and inspiring underserved and disabledgroups to reach their full potential through sport.• An understanding of the barriers that may affect participation incommunity sport.• Ability to engage, motivate and communicate effectively with adiverse audience, including volunteers, community organisations,parents, carers and young people.• Understanding the importance of safeguarding and childprotection (training will be provided).• Strong written and verbal communication and an ability tocommunicate with a diverse audience.Desirable• Lived experience of one or more of the underserved communitieswe support i.e. D/deaf, disabled, neurodivergent, women and girls,ethnically diverse communities and low-socio economicbackgrounds.• Experience in volunteer recruitment, retention, or recognition,particularly in grassroots football.• Experience working with or knowledge of the structure ofgrassroots football and FA programmes.• Experience of working with or coaching young people from ourtarget groups; less active, disabled young people and young peoplefrom the most deprived communities.• Experience of working in, or knowledge of the sport sector.• Coaching instructor qualifications or experience delivering sportsessions to young people.Personal attributesA passion for Access Sport’s cause and empowering underservedand disabled children and young people to reach their full potentialthrough sport.• A personal commitment to Access Sport’s vision and values.• Self-motivated, able to use initiative, and a highly flexibleapproach to work.• Proactive and adaptable - ability to think creatively and useinitiative to achieve outcomes.• Reliable and hardworking with the confidence to workindependently.• A strong team player with good interpersonal skills.• Committed to continuing personal and professional development.In addition:• The post holder must have the right to work in the UK.• The post holder must be able to travel to locations acrossSheffield.• There will be some requirements to work on evenings or weekends,for which time off in lieu (TOIL) can be taken.Equal opportunitiesWe welcome and encourage applications from people of allbackgrounds.
