All the clubs we support are invited to join ourInclusive Club Network.In 2024/25 Access Sport engaged over 34,000 disadvantaged anddisabled young people, with a strong representation from ethnicallydiverse communities, girls, and previously less active young people. Theseinclude highlights of our Nuffield Health partnership across GreaterManchester and our impact transforming young lives through cycling.Role purposeSummaryAccess Sport are looking to appoint a Social Impact Cycling Coach todeliver accessible and inclusive cycling sessions using BMX as a tool to engage and build self-efficacy amongst inactive, underserved anddisabled young people.We believe every young person should have:• Access to a bike.• The skills and confidence to use it.• Somewhere local, safe and exciting to enjoy riding.We work across 3 areas:• Facilities: We build exciting, accessible, and inclusive places to ridethat are accessible to underserved communities and are free touse, with equipment on-site.• Community Outreach: We deliver specialist cycle training toinactive, disadvantaged and disabled young people in local schools.• Clubs: We empower local people to create cycling communities bydeveloping regular and inclusive access to equipment and training.The role will deliver across our outreach programme, deliveringaccessible and inclusive cycling sessions using BMX as a tool to engage and build confidence amongst inactive, underserved and disabled young people. The post holder will deliver outreach to local schools and groups at sites where we are developing a community club.There may be opportunities to support the some of the communitycycling clubs in and around the Greater Manchester area, working toengage further young people and deliver inclusive focused sessions.ResponsibilitiesDelivery• Plan and deliver accessible and inclusive cycling sessions toinactive, underserved and disabled young people from localschools, SEN schools, Pupil Referral Units and local groups in linewith Access Sport’s vision and values.• Inspire and engage disadvantaged and disabled young peoplefrom underserved communities.• Keep an up-to-date record of session attendance and assist withthe surveying of participant progression and development.• Maintain a consistent line of communication with Access Sport andrelevant schools and clubs.• Ensure all sessions adhere to health and safety regulations and thecorrect actions are taken when reporting/managing accidents andinjuries.• Safeguard the welfare of participants during sessions.Person specificationSkills / ExperienceEssential• British Cycling Level 2 Award in Coaching Cycling qualification (orequivalent). We are interested in hearing from a range ofcandidates, if there is a willingness to work towards the relevantqualifications.• Ability to connect with diverse community groups, includingD/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent young people, women andgirls, ethnically diverse communities and individuals from low-socioeconomic backgrounds.• Experience or knowledge of cycling.Desirable (we will welcome applications if you have any combination ofthese skills)• Lived experience of one or more of the underserved communitieswe support i.e. D/deaf, disabled, neurodivergent, women and girls,ethnically diverse communities and low-socio economicbackgrounds.• Experience coaching or riding BMX, as the work is focused on thisdiscipline.• Prior coaching experience in schools, clubs, and communitysettings; experience working with challenging behaviour.• Qualifications in first aid, child safeguarding and supporting mentalhealth.• Experience conducting and adhering to risk assessments.• Understanding of basic bicycle maintenance.• UK driving license.Access Sport can provide:• Award in Emergency First Aid at Work – Level 3• An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check• Child protection in Sport and Physical Activity Safeguardingqualification.Personal attributes• Passionate about cycling.• A passion for Access Sport’s cause and empoweringunderrepresented children and young people to reach their fullpotential through sport.• Commitment to an outstanding level of session delivery.• An understanding of the importance of safeguarding.• Understanding of various cycling disciplines with the ability toadapt sessions for different groups of participants.• Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and nonverbal).• Reliable and hardworking with the confidence to workindependently.• Proactive and adaptable; ability to use initiative to achieveoutcomes.• Demonstrate a commitment to continuing personal andprofessional development.In addition:• The post holder must have the right to work in the UK.• The post holder must be able to travel within the UK, with regulartravel in/surrounding areas of Greater Manchester.Continuing Professional DevelopmentWe are committed to supporting the work-based and personaldevelopment of our team members.
