Philip was appointed to the UK Sport Board in March 2009.
Philip Kimberley joined England Hockey (now known as the England Hockey Board or EHB) as part time Executive Chairman in May 2003 following a long and successful career in international general management with Burmah Castrol Plc, the last few years of which he was Chief Executive of Castrol’s Asian region. Immediately prior to joining England Hockey he ran a small charity for a year gaining valuable ‘not for profit’ experience.
He led the rebuilding of England Hockey on a day to day basis until January 2009 when he handed over to Sally Munday, newly appointed Chief Executive. He is now Non-Executive Chairman; in addition he became the EHB’s representative on the Great Britain Hockey Board.
Philip has recently been appointed as Chairman of Nemisys, the web development and internet systems company and was also a member of the National Anti Doping Project Board set up by UK Sport in 2008. Philip received the 2009 award for Outstanding Contribution to British Sport off the field of play along with EHB Performance Director David Faulkner. This trophy, awarded by the Sports Journalists Association reflected their work behind the scenes in helping to steer England’s men to gold medal success at the 2009 EuroHockey Nations Championships.
Philip played hockey for his school, university and various club sides and still plays the occasional game for Gerrards Cross where he is chairman of the sports club. He is married with two grown up sons.
