Mission 2012 - The Next Steps

UK Athletics has put itself forward as a pilot sport for the Mission 2012 process and work is set to commence this week as part of that exercise. This work willhelp ensure that the self-assessment process has been fully road-tested before the project gets underway in earnest in the autumn.
However every sport and stakeholder in the project will have the opportunity to be consulted and comment on the proposed process – Mission 2012 is an inclusive project that UK Sport is eager to ensure has the buy-in of all those involved.
The key dates going forward are:
2007
September
Regional consultation meetings held with Sports and a parallel meeting held with all other relevant organisations to outline the operation and processes that sit behind Mission 2012 and allow for input into the design of Mission 2012 process before the live process begins in earnest.
October
UK Sport PPCs will contact sports’ performance directors to advise them on and formally initiate the self-assessment process and provide supporting facilitation.
UK Sport to feed back on the consultation exercise and detail the proposed processes and timelines for Mission 2012 going forward.
November
Completed reports, together with sport-specific briefs will be provided to Performance Panel members ahead of their first meeting. Panel will then meet and discuss the submissions, from which they can assess the overall status of Mission 2012 as individual sports see it, whilst at the same time devising a picture of the broader landscape.
Following the Panel meetings, UK Sport's PPCs will feed back to their respective sports on relevant discussions and action within seven days.
December
UK Sport’s Board will meet and consider any outputs from the Panel meetings. A media briefing will be held to convey the current state of play.
2008
January
Work begins on the second quarter’s assessment, involving greater involvement and dialogue from UK Sport’s Performance Directorate staff.
