A set of International Standards have been produced by WADA to deal with some of the technical and operational areas within the anti-doping programme. They have been developed in consultation with the signatories of the World Anti-Doping Code. Adherence to the applicable International Standards is mandatory. The four International Standards are:
This Standard sets out requirements for effective testing and maintaining the integrity and identity of the samples, from notifying the athlete of a test to the transporting of samples for analysis. It includes standards for test distribution planning, notification of athletes, preparing for and conducting sample collection, security/post test administration and transportation of samples.
International Standard for Testing [PDF, 754k]
The purpose of this Standard is to ensure laboratory production of valid test results and evidentiary data and to achieve uniform and harmonized results and reporting from all accredited doping control laboratories.
International Standard for Laboratories [PDF, 225k]
The Prohibited List Standard contains a list of the Classes of Prohibited Substances and Methods applicable to the Code.
Current List of Prohibited Substances and Methods [PDF, 123k]
The aim of this Standard is to ensure that the process of granting therapeutic use exemptions is harmonised across sports and countries. It includes criteria for granting a TUE, confidentiality of information, the formation of TUE committees and the TUE application process.
