Since 2007, the UK Talent Team (the campaign arm of the Performance Pathway Team) has worked in partnership with 20 Olympic and Paralympic sports and over 100 World Class coaches; run 12 National athlete recruitment campaigns, and assessed over 7000 athletes. These projects have resulted in over 100 newly identified athletes entering the World Class system across 17 sports with over 450 international appearances made and over 150 international medals won.
Several of these athletes were selected to represent Great Britain at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games and 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games.

Pitch2Podium was an exciting programme created by the UK Talent Team and our partners within the football and rugby authorities. The aim of the programme was to provide young football and rugby players who have been unsuccessful in securing a professional contract, with a second chance opportunity to succeed in a new Olympic sport.
In February 2007 the UK Talent Team set out to awaken some future giants of British sport. In the first appeal of its kind, UK Sport asked potential athletes to make themselves known – providing they fulfilled the basic criteria of being tall (a minimum of 6’3” or 190cm for men and 5’11” or 180cm for women), young (between 16 and 25), and with some sort of athletic background.
