Tickets for the third BTCB British International Taekwondo Championships have gone on sale today with the prospect of seeing the world’s best in action from 25–26 September at the Manchester Regional Arena sure to excite taekwondo and sports fans alike. With a variety of options and prices available on advance sale tickets, there has never been a better opportunity to support Britain’s top athletes whilst experiencing the thrilling action up close.

Tickets can be purchased through the official online retailer www.quaytickets.com or by calling the ticket line on 0843 208 0500.

British Taekwondo is riding high at the moment with the recent European Championships in St. Petersburg, Russia yielding the country’s best ever medal haul at a major international event. Two gold medals contributed to the world number one rankings achieved by rising star Aaron Cook and Beijing Olympic bronze medallist Sarah Stevenson, both of whom will be competing in this year’s British International Championships. As well as his European gold, Cook has won the US Open and World Pro Tour events so far in 2010.

Many of the top British athletes, based at the High Performance Centre in Sport City, Manchester will be taking part in the British International Championships, competing against some of the world’s top talent.  As a major stepping stone on the road towards London 2012, the team will be looking for a strong performance and every competitor will want to stake their claim to represent Team GB on the world’s biggest sporting stage.

Gary Hall, Performance Director of BTCB – Sport Taekwondo UK Ltd, commented: “We are looking forward to another strong international field featuring the world’s top taekwondo athletes following our recently earned prestigious WTF World Class status. This is a rare opportunity to see Britian’s best athletes competing in the UK and this year we’ve placed a variety of great value ticket options on advance sale to ensure that there is something for everyone.”

UK Sport, the nation’s elite sports agency, will once again be backing the event via their National Lottery funded World Class Events Programme.

Rebecca Edser, Events Consultant at UK Sport, said: “UK Sport is delighted to be supporting the British International Taekwondo Championships for the third year in a row, as the event continues to go from strength to strength in terms of its status on the international competition schedule.

“The event will bring some of the world’s best taekwondo players to the UK, ensuring a fantastic spectacle as well as a valuable experience for our home grown top athletes and emerging talent alike.”

The first batch of limited tickets, available to book online, are given ‘Priority A’ status offering spectators the premium seating closest to the main finals ring. Tickets can be purchased through the official online retailer www.quaytickets.com or by calling the ticket line on 0843 208 0500.
