Organisers of Legacy Lives have confirmed that the Right Honourable Tessa Jowell MP, Minister for the Olympics, will be joining an already impressive line up of speakers for this year’s Legacy Lives conference in London.
The Minister will be presenting on the progress of London 2012 and setting out her views on how the International Olympic Committee could support bidding countries to make the process more accessible, affordable and financially viable.
Tessa Jowell is the second Minister to confirm their participation at the conference, following Lord Mervyn Davies’ confirmation that he will also be speaking.
The main conference, to which UK Sport is the International Event Partner, will be staged on the 4th March and delegates will be able to hear from a variety of high profile conference speakers. The line up includes:
• Sir Craig Reedie - IOC Executive Board Member
• Lord Mervyn Davies - Minister for Trade, Investment and Small Business
• Bob Elphinston – President of FIBA and an IOC advisor
• Sir Keith Mills – Chair of the International Inspiration Foundation
• Sir Howard Bernstein – Chief Executive, Manchester City Council
• Andrew Altmann – CEO, Olympic Park Legacy Company
• Mike Lee OBE – Rio 2016 advisor and Chairman of Vero Communications
• Goh Kee Nguan – CEO, Singapore Youth Olympics
• Baroness Sue Campbell – Chair of UK Sport
As the UK embarks on a Decade of Sport, UK Sport will also be outlining the work it has done with partners across the country to develop an impact framework to help capture some of the impacts that will be felt across the Decade. Liz Nicholl (UK Sport Chief Operations Officer and Simon Morton (UK Sport Head of Events) will be reviewing the project and demonstrating how it can be used to help event organisers across the UK to measure the impacts and legacies of their events.
The Legacy Lives Conference will be held between March 3rd – March 5th 2010 at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel in Canary Wharf, London.
