Water Polo has featured on the Olympic programme at every Games since 1900, while a women’s event was introduced a century later, at the Sydney 2000 Games. Hungary is the most successful nation in the Games’ history and will be the defending champions in the men’s event. Netherlands are the reigning champions in the women’s event.
