Commenting on the announcements made by the British Olympic Association and British Paralympic Association this week on the selection of 19 athletes to compete for Team GB and ParalympicsGB in Synchronised Swimming, Sailing, Archery and Disability Sailing at the London Olympic and Paralympic Games, UK Sport Chief Executive, Liz Nicholl, said:

“Congratulations to the 18 athletes who have this week been selected to represent Team GB at the London 2012 Olympic Games in Synchronised Swimming, Sailing and Archery, and to Helena Lucas who has been selected to represent ParalympicsGB at the London 2012 Paralympic Games in Sailing.

“UK Sport is proud to support the sports and athletes making up these ever-growing squads, with an investment of £312 million over the London Olympiad [2009-2013] of National Lottery, Exchequer and Team 2012 funding to help ensure they are as well prepared as possible going into the Home Games in London.

“With just over two months until the start of the Olympic Games, and just over three months until the start of the Paralympic Games, we are in no doubt that these athletes will do the nation proud this summer.”

Archery – £4,408,000
Synchronised Swimming – £3,389,300
