UK Sport Response to Rio Ferdinand Announcement

Subscribe

Russell Langley 18 March 2004

In response to the Independent Appeal Commission’s announcement regarding Rio Ferdinand, UK Sport's Acting Director of Drug-Free Sport, John Scott, said:

"Competitors in all sports need to be aware of their responsibilities with regards to drug testing, and must realise that failure to comply with the procedures for whatever reason is taken as seriously as a positive test.

"As with the original hearing, we are satisfied that the FA has followed the procedures set out in the World Anti-Doping Code in setting up a fair and independent panel which has heard evidence from both sides before drawing its conclusions."
