The Modern Pentathlon World Cup at Medway is the third of five World Cup events taking place globally in 2010 and coincides with the launch of the newly refurbished £11.1 million sports facility – Medway Park in Gillingham, Kent.
The World Cup comprises two days of semi-finals (Thursday and Friday 8-9th April) and culminates in two days of finals – the men’s final on Saturday 10th and the women’s on Sunday 11th April. The top 36 athletes from the World Cup Series will qualify for the World Cup Final in Moscow in June.
Alongside the World and Olympic champions competing in the finals of the World Cup event, will be approximately 300 school children, from Years 5 to 13, taking part in an Invitational Schools Biathlon.
Spectator activities are focused around the weekend Finals events where, as part of the programme, Medway will be hosting Come and Try It sessions open to the public where all are welcome to have a go at fencing and shooting.
