The Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta, organised by the RYA, is the only international multi-class regatta in the Olympic and Paralympic classes staged in the UK, and is held at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) which will play host to the sailing competition for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The inaugural Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta was held in 2006, with the event growing in significance year on year given its location at the 2012 Olympic venue.

In 2011 the event will be held from 5–11 June, and forms the sixth regatta in the ISAF Sailing World Cup Series, with entries expected to exceed 700 boats across 13 Olympic and Paralympic Classes.

Home-grown and international sailors are keen to gain experience of the Olympic venue in the run-up to 2012, making this event an important fixture in the international calendar.
Racing takes place from Monday 6 to Saturday 11 June with medal racing and the prize giving on Saturday 11 June.
Spectators are welcome during the event and in 2011 there will be a tented race village, housing retail outlets.
Medal Race Day is on Saturday the 11; with the prize-giving being hosted on the main stage and a large screen on shore showing live tracking and action from the race course.

There are no ticket sales, but visitors are welcome throughout the event and can register their intent to attend, in advance, on the event website www.skandiasailforgoldregatta.co.uk  It is not a requirement for spectators to pre-register.
For event volunteering opportunities and more information email Eleanor.black@rya.org.uk.
