The European Water Ski Championships were first held in France in 1947 and over the last 60 years have developed a colourful and distinguished history as a major prestige water skiing event on the international calendar. It is expected that there will be 40 participating countries and a total of 140 top European athletes. The competition consists of a standalone one day team event and then a four day individual championships in the three disciplines of Slalom, Figures (Tricks) and Jump.

The 2010 European Water Ski Championships will take place at the prestigious Britannia Arena, Thorpe - one of the first purpose built competition standard water ski lagoons in the world. The Arena is the only site in the world to have hosted three World Championships and is steeped in the history of the sport and known worldwide.

Water skiing is one of Britain’s most successful sports and our athletes have excelled in every discipline.  Great Britain currently has several World Champions including the prestigious World Slalom title to its name.
