For the first time ever, the International Blind Sports Association (IBSA) has awarded the IBSA Judo European Championships to Great Britain for 2011.
The event will be the most prestigious visually impaired event hosted by the British Judo Association and will take place at K2 Leisure Centre, Crawley.
Hosted every two years, the IBSA Judo European Championships is the major event on the VI European Judo calender, and gives Europe’s elite a chance to showcase their skills.
Just nine months out from the London 2012 Paralympic Games, the Championships is expected to attract the highest-level judoka from all over Europe.
In 2009, the British Team picked up its best results at the Europeans ever, winning four medals in total.
Britain’s VI Squad will be out in force again and looking to hear the support from a home crowd, something they don’t normally get to experience with most VI judo events being abroad.
