An endurance sport, Triathlon brings together Running, Cycling and Swimming. The Triathlon joined the Olympic programme at the Sydney 2000 Games, in Australia, with a single event for men and another for women.
Since then, British triathlon has gone from strength to strength, largely driven by the trailblazing brother Jonny and Alistair Brownlee. This continued at Tokyo 2020 with a new generation of triathlon superstars taking centre stage alongside the evergreen Jonny Brownlee.
Alex Yee and Georgia Taylor-Brown both scooped a silver medal whilst the two alongside Brownlee and Jess Learmonth won a historic gold in the Olympic debut of mixed relay triathlon.
Brownlee's gold means he now has an Olympic medal in every colour after a bronze at London 2012 and a silver at Rio 2016.
