Rowing has been a part of the Olympic programme since the Paris 1900 Games but it wasn’t until Montreal 1976 when women first competed. Rowers compete in alone in singles, or in boats made up of two, four or eight rowers. Eight-person crews have a coxswain, who steers and directs the boat through the race.
Paris 2024 was a brilliant Games for Britain's rowers. A haul of eight medals was bettered by no other nation and gold medals were won in the men's eight, women's quad and lightweight women's double.
