Hockey first appeared on the Olympic programme at the 1908 Games in London, and has consistenly appeared since 1928. 24 teams (12 men’s and 12 women’s) from across the World contest for medals in the Olympic tournaments.
On the back of a historic gold at Rio 2016, the Great Britain women's team kept their medal run going with a bronze medal in Tokyo, while the men's team lost out to bronze medal winners India in the quarter-finals.
