Effective from 15 October 2025
Last month we released an update to the UK Sport Funding Eligibility Policy, approved at the October UK Sport Board meeting.
Introduced in 2013, the Policy has served as a cornerstone of our commitment to fairness, transparency, and integrity. In line with best practice, the Policy is reviewed every few years to ensure it remains relevant and responsive to the evolving sporting landscape.
This latest update strengthens our position in determining an individual’s eligibility to receive public funding when their conduct is called into question.
Summary of the key changes:
- New breach – Non-Compliant Events: Engagement with events promoting prohibited substances or methods (e.g. Enhanced Games) is a potential breach of the Policy.
- Expanded breach – False Statements: Now includes any false statement that could influence funding decisions.
- Anti-doping updates: Reflects changes in World Anti-Doping Agency procedures, including updated definitions and processes.
- Use of external findings: The Eligibility Panel can now reply on the decisions or findings from a broader range of other organisations.
- Summary procedure enhancements: The person who is potentially in breach of the Policy will be informed and given the opportunity to submit a response in writing.
- Improved communications: National Governing Bodies will be notified of all triaging outcomes.
