14 ambitious, talented individuals from across the UK’s sport system have been selected for UK Sport’s flagship International Leadership Programme (ILP). Joining an alumni network of 100+ leaders, this latest group will develop their knowledge, expertise, skills and relationships to operate effectively in - and make a tangible and positive impact on- the development and governance of international sport.

Comprising of senior administrators, current and retired athletes, and leaders within NGBs, the group will take part in a year-long programme of tailored modules covering major themes including the international sporting landscape, building powerful relationships, negotiating and influencing techniques, cross-cultural working, sport governance and communicating effectively with international audiences.

Katherine Grainger, Chair of UK Sport, commented,  “Now in its tenth year, I am delighted to announce such a high calibre and experienced set of individuals on this year’s programme and we look forward to working with them over the coming months. The ILP is a demonstration of UK Sport’s commitment to help develop the international sports leaders of the future, providing them with the knowledge, skills and competencies to be effective administrators in the governance and development of international sport. It’s fantastic to see such a diverse group with many current and retired athletes taking part in the programme and becoming inspiring leaders within their sport.

The ILP forms part of UK Sport’s strategy of ensuring the UK has a strong, respected and supportive voice in international sport, by developing the knowledge, expertise and skills of representatives from National Governing Bodies (NGBs) in the UK and other national partners to operate and succeed in international sports organisations. For further details click here
