Great Britain’s women’s hockey team play in their first ever Olympic final. In a match where at least a silver medal is guaranteed, the experienced British side will be relentless in the pursuit of gold. They face a world-renowned hockey nation in the Netherlands, but the Brits are the only side to have won every match so far in the Games.
Super heavyweight boxer Joe Joyce has already secured himself a bronze by reaching the semi-final stage, but a win today would see him go for gold on Sunday, while Lutalo Muhammad is out to improve on his taekwondo bronze medal from London 2012.
After dramatic qualifying rounds saw the USA and the Netherlands eliminated from the event (USA were later reinstated after an appeal), Britain’s women will have a chance of reaching the podium in the 4x100m relay. Adam Gemili, fresh from an agonisingly close 200m final yesterday, goes in the men’s 4x100m relay, who qualified as fastest losers.
