Day one in Rio gets underway with Chris Froome going for glory in the road race at 13:30 BST. The course around Rio combines climbs, cobbles and the Copacabana, and Froome will face tough competition from Spain's Alejandro Valverde and Italy's Vincenzo Nibali.
There is a medal opportunity in the pool as James Guy goes in the 400m freestyle, although his preferred event (the 200m) is on Monday. He is up against close rival Sun Yang of China, who last year beat him to gold in the 400m at the World Championships.
Rugby sevens also makes it Olympic debut today, with the British women starting their Olympic campaign against hosts Brazil at 16:00 and then later face Japan at 21:00.
More British highlights for the day ahead are listed below (times denoted are BST). For the full daily schedule, live updates and stats, and medal table, head on over to our interactive micro-site #EVERYROADtoRIO Live.
