British athletes will be able to rest and recover from the intensity of their training and competition at some of the best hotels around the world thanks to a multi-year agreement which sees IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) become the Official Hotel Partner of UK Sport.
As part of the partnership with the nation’s high performance sports agency IHG will provide UK Sport and its associated National Governing Bodies with world class accommodation as well as conference, group and meeting facilities.
The deal will mean athletes and their support personnel, training and competing worldwide, will have access to IHG branded hotels at a preferential rate.
IHG is a global organisation with a broad portfolio of hotel brands, including InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza® Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo®, Holiday Inn® Hotels & Resorts and Holiday Inn Express®.
IHG franchises, leases, manages or owns more than 4,900 hotels and 727,000 guest rooms in nearly 100 countries, with more than 1,300 hotels in its development pipeline. IHG also manages IHG® Rewards Club, the world’s first and largest hotel loyalty programme with more than 90 million members worldwide.
Liz Nicholl, UK Sport CEO, said:
“UK Sport, and those we support, operate nationally and internationally and, therefore, the ability to provide our athletes, sports and staff with value for money accommodation will help our drive for efficiencies without compromising on performance.
“With IHG's portfolio of brands across the globe they are a perfect fit for our needs and we look forward to working alongside them in the years to come.”
