Trainee Vision Mixer / Replay Playout Operator

Vinco Sport Ltd
Organisation
Vinco Sport Ltd
Salary
£12.71 per hour
Location
Wilmslow, UK
Contract type
Paid Internship (Part time)
Closing date
31 January 2027
Job Description
Duration: April to the end of August
Location: Wilmslow, UK
Hours: Event based, including weekends

Vinco Sport Ltd is looking for trainees to support vision mixing and replay playout in our studio during live track and field and cross country broadcasts. This is an opportunity to learn the practical skills behind live sports coverage and work as part of a broadcast production team.
Vision mixing involves switching between cameras and other sources, following the director’s instructions. Replay playout involves identifying, preparing and playing back key moments so viewers can see the action again. You may develop skills in one or both areas, depending on your interests and the team’s needs.

About the role

Based in our Wilmslow studio on event days, you’ll learn alongside the production team before taking on tasks under supervision. You’ll help deliver clear, well-timed coverage that allows audiences to follow and enjoy the competition.

Your responsibilities may include:
- Helping prepare and check studio equipment and systems before broadcasts.
- Reviewing event schedules and understanding the production plan.
- Switching between camera feeds, graphics and other sources as instructed by the director.
- Monitoring live action and identifying moments that could be useful for replay.
- Marking and organising replay clips so they can be found quickly.
- Cueing and playing replays at the director’s request.
- Communicating clearly with the team and reporting any problems promptly.
- Reviewing your work with colleagues and applying feedback.
- Supporting other studio tasks needed to keep broadcasts running smoothly.

About you

We’re looking for someone who:
- Is interested in live sports broadcasting and keen to learn.
- Can concentrate for sustained periods and pay attention to detail.
- Listens carefully and follows instructions accurately.
- Communicates clearly and enjoys working as part of a team.
- Can stay calm and respond to changing priorities during live events.
- Is comfortable learning new software and working with computers.
- Is reliable, punctual and available to attend our Wilmslow studio on agreed event days, including weekends.

Previous vision mixing, replay or broadcasting experience is not essential. Experience from education, personal projects, volunteering or other work is welcome. An interest in athletics is helpful, and training and guidance will be provided.

What you’ll gain

- Practical experience working in a live sports broadcasting studio.
- Skills in vision mixing, replay operation or both.
- An understanding of how directors, camera operators and studio teams coordinate live coverage.
- Supervised opportunities to contribute to broadcasts as your skills develop.
- Guidance and feedback from the production team.
How to apply
Please email jobs@vincosport.com and attach your CV as a single PDF named surname-firstname.pdf. Include a short covering note of three to four sentences telling us why you’re interested in vision mixing or replay playout, what you’d like to learn and an example of when you followed instructions carefully, worked well in a team or stayed focused during a busy task. Your example can come from education, work, volunteering or everyday life—we don’t expect previous broadcasting experience. Vision mixing involves switching between camera shots during a live broadcast, following the director’s instructions. Replay playout involves finding and playing back key moments so viewers can see the action again. Please let us know whether you’re interested in one role or both. If you have examples of videos, live streams or other media projects you’ve worked on, you’re welcome to include links, but these are not required. We welcome applications from everyone. If you need adjustments at any stage of the process, tell us, and we will make them.
