Vinco Sport Ltd is looking for a Camera Operator Intern to help bring live athletics to audiences. You’ll work as part of our broadcast crew at track and field and cross country events, operating a camera to capture races, field events and the moments around the competition.

This is a practical opportunity to develop camera skills, gain experience of live sports production and learn how a broadcast team works together to cover an event.

About the role

With training and guidance from the team, you’ll operate one of the cameras used in our event coverage. You’ll learn to follow the action, frame clear and engaging shots, and respond to instructions from the director over the crew’s communication system.

Your responsibilities may include:

- Operating a camera during live coverage of track and field and cross country events.
- Following athletes smoothly and maintaining appropriate framing and focus.
- Listening to the director’s instructions and staying ready for your camera to be used in the broadcast.
- Preparing for your assigned events by reviewing schedules, start lists and camera responsibilities.
- Helping set up, check and pack away cameras, tripods, cables and other broadcast equipment.
- Communicating clearly with the production team and reporting technical problems promptly.
- Working safely around athletes, officials, spectators and other crew members.
- Supporting the team with other practical tasks needed to deliver each broadcast.

About you

We’re looking for someone who:
- Has an interest in athletics, camera work and live sports broadcasting.
- Can stay focused and follow moving action for sustained periods.
- Listens carefully, follows instructions and responds calmly when plans change.
- Is reliable, punctual and comfortable working as part of a team.
- Takes care when handling equipment and is willing to learn.
- Is available to attend events, including weekends, as required by the agreed schedule.
- Is comfortable working at outdoor venues in changing weather conditions.

Previous live broadcasting experience is not essential. Experience filming sport, coursework, personal projects or student productions would be useful, but we also welcome applicants who can demonstrate enthusiasm and a thoughtful approach to learning. Training and guidance will be provided.
