Starting your coaching journey and want to learn from inside a high-standards academy environment? South London Girls Football Academy is looking for an Assistant Coach to support our Academy Director with our Under-8s group in Southwark for the 2026/27 season.

This role is built for a developing coach: someone who has recently passed their UEFA C, or has completed the FA Introduction to Coaching Football and is about to start their UEFA C. You'll learn on the grass every week, get regular feedback, and take on more responsibility as your confidence grows.

THE ROLE AT A GLANCE
- Role: Assistant Coach (Girls' Player Development)
- Group: Under-8s
- Pay: £15 per 1-hour session
- When: Saturdays, [U8 session time]
- Where: Burgess Park Sports Centre, Cobourg Road, SE5
- Contract: Employed (PAYE), sessional. Now until July 2027, immediate start

ABOUT US
SLGFA is a technical development academy for girls aged 4–16 across Southwark, Lewisham and Bromley. We cap our youngest groups at 12 players, so every girl gets real coaching time, and every coach gets the chance to properly get to know their players.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Support the lead coach to deliver fun, engaging, high-quality sessions for Under-8s
- Help set up, run and pack down session activities
- Give individual encouragement and support to players during practices and games
- Lead parts of the session (warm-ups, practices, small-sided games) as you develop
- Help create a safe, positive and inclusive environment where every girl enjoys her football
- Take part in session planning and reflection with the lead coach

WHAT YOU'LL GET
- Weekly mentoring from our Academy Director
- Hands-on experience in a structured academy programme
- Regular feedback to support your UEFA C and your wider coaching development
- A clear path to take on more responsibility as you progress
- The chance to be part of a supportive, ambitious coaching team

ESSENTIAL
- UEFA C Licence, OR the FA Introduction to Coaching Football with plans to start your UEFA C soon
- Some grassroots coaching experience
- Enhanced DBS Certificate (children's workforce), or willingness to complete one before starting
- FA Safeguarding Children and FA Emergency First Aid, or willingness to complete both before starting
- Available every Saturday during the season

DESIRABLE
- Experience coaching young children (ages 5–8)
- Experience working with girls' football
- Currently enrolled on, or booked onto, the UEFA C

- Reliable and punctual; our players and parents count on you
