About the role

Want to coach players who've actually practised since last week? At SLGFA you'll coach focused groups of girls who turn up wanting to get better, and you'll see the progress week to week.

We run technical development centres for girls aged 5–16 across Bromley, Lewisham and Southwark. Coach at the centre that suits you, or combine centres for more hours across Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

We're looking for more than qualified coaches. We want good people who care about developing young players, build real relationships, and know the difference quality coaching makes on and off the pitch.

What you'll do

- Deliver engaging, high-quality sessions using the Academy's session frameworks and curriculum.
- Support each player's technical, tactical, physical, psychological and social development.
- Create safe, positive and inclusive environments where every girl wants to come back.
- Complete short player development notes as required.
- Work with fellow coaches and Academy staff.
- Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, safeguarding and player welfare.
- Arrive 20 minutes before your first session to set up, and pack away afterwards (around 10 minutes). This time is included within the session pay rate.

What you'll need

Essential
- UEFA C Licence
- Enhanced DBS Certificate
- FA Safeguarding Children qualification
- FA Emergency First Aid qualification
- At least 2 years' experience coaching youth football

Desirable
- UEFA B Licence
- Experience in a professional club pathway, such as an Academy, Emerging Talent Centre (ETC), Development Centre or Advanced Player Programme (APP)
- Experience coaching girls' football
- Experience delivering individual player development

The person
- Passionate about youth player development and a positive role model
- Reflective, and keen to keep improving as a coach
- Able to make sessions enjoyable, challenging and engaging for ages 5 to 16
- A team player who shares our Academy values

Why coach with us?

- Players who've done the reps. Our home practice challenges and videos on 360Player mean your players arrive having practised. They have drills and educational videos at their fingertips in the build-up to your session.
- Your time goes on coaching, not paperwork. Session plans, frameworks and the curriculum are provided.
- No invoices, no surprises. You're paid through PAYE, with holiday pay paid during academy closure weeks such as Christmas.
- Ownership, not cone-setting. You'll own your group's development, and your input could shape how the academy coaches.
- Choose your hours. Coach one evening a week, or combine centres for up to five paid hours across Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Coaching kit provided.
Growing as a coach

We want our coaches to get better every season, not just turn up. Mentoring from the Academy Director will be offered where possible.
There is room to grow. Coaches who show the right character and capability can progress into roles such as Centre Manager or Academy Manager.
How to apply
How to apply Email your CV and a short note on your coaching experience to contact@slgfa.co.uk. Tell us which centre or centres you're interested in. - Informal chat – a quick conversation about you and the role. - Application form – sent to you after the chat. - Observed session – you'll deliver a 60-minute session using a session plan we provide. - Start – immediate starts available. We review applications as they arrive and may close vacancies once suitable coaches are appointed, so apply early. We particularly welcome applications from women. South London Girls Football Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to satisfactory safeguarding checks, including an Enhanced DBS check.
