Job Title: Media Intern

Accountable to: Head of Marketing and Digital

Contract: Fixed Term, 15 March – 01 October 2026

Hours: To attend all Somerset home match days, both Men and Women

Salary: National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage

Location: Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton

Closing date: 04 February 2026

Who We Are

We Are Somerset! Somerset County Cricket Club: one of the most successful first-class county cricket clubs of the past 10 years. Deeply rooted in our community since 1875, with a rich reputation for developing talent from across the region. Yet our vision stretches far beyond the local: we have global reach, with circa 1.2 million social media followers from around the world and bold ambitions for success on the international field.

Our enviable facilities at the Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton, compliment the outstanding commercial opportunities our sporting profile presents. We are a 365-day venue: alongside hosting 50 days of cricket each year, we deliver numerous non-cricket related events, conferences, concerts and weddings, to name a few, with the determination to make our ground the primary sporting and business destination in the south-west.

The Internship

With over 1.2 million followers across all social media platforms and a website boasting 11 million hits in the last 2 years, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn and develop key skills within the outstanding environment of a professional cricket team. In particular, the Club is looking to continue expanding its live streaming offering after achieving over 10 million views over the last 3 seasons. SCCC were recently awarded “YouTube channel of the year” at the prestigious Broadcast Sports Awards.

For this internship we ask you commit to attendance on all home match days, some of which are at weekends and during the evening. In return, this placement will enable you to work with international sporting stars and apply knowledge of media, digital and filming to that environment. Working closely with the Somerset media team, you’ll learn and benefit from their talent and experience and you’ll develop a range of new skills and exceptional real-world examples to pursue a long career in the sports media, journalism, broadcast or digital fields.

As a Somerset CCC Media Intern, you will contribute to the success of the digital strategy by:

Providing specialist support on matchdays to the in-house live streaming platform. This will include manning a roaming camera during hours of play and generating ideas for improving the output.

Helping develop new ideas for SCCC digital channels.

Building relationships with key stakeholders within the club, including the playing squad and wider commercial team.

Providing support to the Head of Marketing and Digital with other project-based tasks throughout the season.

A crucial element of this internship will involve working with you to discover your specific areas of interest in sports journalism, digital and broadcast. The placement will help shape these developments and provide outstanding real-world experience from an award-winning organisation.

We ask that you have some media and digital filming experience with an understanding of current digital trends, ideally within sport. You’re a strong communicator who prioritises working effectively within a team environment and your attention to detail is exemplary. You also thrive on tight deadlines and are comfortable working under pressure.

You will need to be eligible to work in the UK.
