Job Description
Based at the City Football Academy in Manchester, this casual opportunity supports the health, wellbeing and on-pitch development of high-potential Academy players. You will provide responsive physiotherapy support across training and matchday activity, helping players recover well, reduce injury risk and return safely to full function within an elite development environment.

Who We Are

Manchester City is a football club rooted in East Manchester, with a story that began in 1880 and continues to grow today. Built on resilience, belief and togetherness, success on the pitch is driven by the moments and memories shared with millions of Fans around the world. City is known for its bravery, its determination to the very end and its strong connection to where we come from. With Mancunian roots and a global outlook, we are shaped by our Fans and driven by a long-term vision, from developing future talent to supporting the communities we call home. Together, we are creating the next chapter, the City way.

Within the Manchester City Academy, our multidisciplinary team supports young players throughout their development pathway. Medical, performance and coaching colleagues work together to provide thoughtful, evidence-based care that promotes player wellbeing, availability and long-term development on and off the pitch.

The Role

As a Casual Academy Physiotherapist, you will contribute to the assessment and management of injuries, helping to optimise recovery and minimise time away from football. You will also support screening and injury-prevention activity, applying current clinical practice to meet the individual needs of Academy players.

Working alongside the wider medical and performance team, you will help deliver rehabilitation plans that support a safe return to full function. You will provide emergency aid cover at training sessions and matches and maintain the professional registration, pitch-side trauma accreditation and clinical standards required for the role.

Clear communication will be central to your impact. You will work effectively with full-time colleagues, players, parents and coaches, while contributing to continuous professional development across the Academy therapy team. Casual assignments may be offered at short notice and can include evenings, weekends and other irregular hours.

What You’ll Bring

A degree in Physiotherapy, Sport Rehabilitation or Sports Therapy
Current HCPC or BASRaT registration appropriate to your professional discipline
Current ITMMiF Level 4 pitch-side trauma qualification, or a higher equivalent qualification
Ability to support injury assessment, rehabilitation and injury-prevention activity in a player-centred way
Clear and effective communication skills when working with players, parents, coaches and multidisciplinary colleagues
Flexibility to accept casual assignments at short notice, including evenings, weekends and other irregular hours

Why Choose Us

Working with Manchester City means being supported to contribute your expertise in an environment built on collaboration, openness and high standards of care. You will have the opportunity to support talented young players at important stages of their development and see the direct impact of thoughtful, evidence-based practice.

This casual position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced medical, performance and coaching colleagues within an elite Academy setting. Each assignment is a chance to broaden your experience, share knowledge and contribute to a multidisciplinary approach that places player wellbeing and long-term development at its centre.
