Job Description
For our recruitment pack, please visit https://www.gymnastsforchange.com/opportunities

We are recruiting three trustees to build a board of six. Two roles have specific responsibilities.

Chair. Our current Chair is stepping down. The incoming Chair will: provide strategic leadership as the charity grows, whilst working closely with the Chief Executive and fellow trustees to shape G4CI’s vision for sustainable growth alongside strong oversight and accountability

Finance trustee. The Chair and Treasurer roles have until now been combined. The finance trustee will support the development and oversight of the annual budget, monitor financial performance against plan, keep financial controls and policies fit for purpose and act as the main contact with our accountant and independent examiner.

All trustees will:

- share responsibility for G4CI’s strategy, governance and long-term sustainability
- ensure the charity acts in line with its purposes, values and legal obligations
- support and constructively challenge the Chief Executive and team
- contribute expertise to time-limited working groups and strategic projects
- help the charity grow while remaining independent and survivor-led

Who we are looking for

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with organisational development and financial expertise. The Chair should have senior leadership experience, and the finance trustee should bring finance experience. Ideally, both will also bring experience in one of the areas below.

We also welcome experience in:

campaigning and movement-building
organisational growth
fundraising
sport governance
survivor advocacy
policy and influencing
arts and culture
safeguarding and athlete welfare
human rights and social justice

You do not need to have been a gymnast. What matters is curiosity, integrity and a willingness to engage with the sport’s potential and complexity.

We are a neuro-affirmative, inclusive organisation and value lived experience as expertise. We particularly welcome applications from:

people with lived experience of abuse in gymnastics or other sports
people from Black, Asian and other minoritised backgrounds
neurodivergent people
disabled people
LGBTQIA+ people
anyone underrepresented in sport leadership
How to apply
Please send your CV and a short written, video or audio note to info@gymnastsforchange.com (no more than 500 words or two mins long), telling us: Why you’d like to join the Board; What experience or perspective you would bring We will then ask you to fill in our Equality and Diversity Monitoring Form. This helps us understand who is applying to join our organisation and review how effective and inclusive our recruitment processes are. We are committed to a recruitment process that is trauma-informed, inclusive and transparent. We are happy to make reasonable adjustments throughout the process; please let us know your needs when you apply (or at any later stage). If you’d like to speak informally with a member of the board or CEO before applying, please contact: Claire Heafford (CEO), claire@gymnastsforchange.com.
