Job Description
REPORTS TO: Executive Chef
LOCATION: Bristol Bears High Performance Centre, Abbots Leigh, Bristol, BS8 3TF.
CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent
HOURS: Full time. Shifts will typically be 8.30am – 4.30pm but can vary dependant on the rugby schedule and calendar which may require change at short notice. The role can include working weekends, evenings, bank and public holidays if required.
SALARY: £26,000
CLOSING DATE: Tuesday 2nd June at midnight

ABOUT BRISTOL BEARS

Bristol Bears Rugby is part of Stephen Lansdown’s sporting group of companies which includes Bristol Sport, Bristol City Football, Bristol Flyers Basketball and each of their respective community charities.
Our vision is ‘to inspire our community through rugby success’. Our supporters regularly attend Ashton Gate Stadium to watch the team perform in Premiership and European Cup Competitions as well as our Women’s team who play at the highest level of domestic competition.


ROLE SUMMARY
We’re looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic team. This is an active role that requires you to be on your feet, handling kitchenware and helping maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the Kitchen. You’ll play a key part in keeping the kitchen running smoothly, supporting the Chefs and ensuring everything is in place to help the team deliver top-quality food to our players. If you’re a team player with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a high-performance environment, we’d love to hear from you!



PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
• To ensure the kitchen and catering areas are kept to the highest standard of cleanliness by completing the cleaning schedule
• Using the dishwashers and equipment provided ensure all cleaning jobs are carried out efficiently and in a timely manner
• To ensure all standards of practice, upkeep, cleaning and set tasks in all catering areas are carried out on time and to a high standard
• To assist setting up Bristol Bears rugby events and catering areas as per requirement on a case-by-case basis
• To report levels of stock, disposables, and cleaning materials to the senior chefs
• To ensure all daily tasks are carried out in a positive, productive, and professional manner
• To be able to follow key set processes and instructions
• To comply with the Food Standards Agency, Health & Safety regulations, and safe working practices in accordance with current legislation and as detailed in the Company’s Health & Safety Policy and Procedures.
• To contribute positively to the Bears vision and culture

ESSENTIAL SKILLS
• A professional and positive attitude
• Able to perform active, physical tasks including lifting, carrying and standing for extended periods
• Reliable, punctual and committed to maintaining high standards at all times
• Able to follow instructions clearly and communicate effectively with the team members
• Proactive and able to take initiative when needed
• Must have own transport due to remote location

DESIRABLE SKILLS
• Ideally you will have some previous kitchen experience, but not essential as training will be provided

HEALTH AND SAFETY
• Responsible for ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed at all times, with relevant paperwork to support
• Report all incidents and accidents as required
• To report any hazards detected
• To complete and review the risk assessments for the department
