Top tips for using Athlete Zone and applying for your Athlete Performance Award

We want to make it as easy and quick as possible for you to apply for your Athlete Performance Award.

The following are here to help you when setting up your UK Sport account, which will allow you to access Athlete Zone and make your application.

Your UK Sport account can also be used to access The Learning Arena, which has information to help you make the most of your time as a World Class Programme athlete.

My UK Sport account and Athlete Zone

I’m setting up my new account

  • To register your account for the first time you’ll need your username and temporary password.
  • These will be sent by email within 24 hours of our Athlete Investment team contacting you. Please contact Athlete.Investment@uksport.gov.uk if you don’t receive these emails.
  • To complete your account registration you’ll need to:
    • Download the Microsoft Authenticator app for your mobile phone
    • Set-up multi-factor authentication
    • Set-up password self-service
  • Give yourself 15-20 minutes to complete all of the steps, and have a laptop or desktop computer to hand.

How to access Athlete Zone

  • Make sure you’ve registered your account and set-up multi-factor authentication before you get started for the first time
  • Use a private or incognito window in your web browser
  • For the best experience use Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge as your browser, on a laptop or desktop computer
  • If you enter your password incorrectly three times you will need to wait 2 hours before trying to login again

I need to reset my password

  • You can reset your password yourself, if you have set-up password self-service
  • To reset your password go to https://aka.ms/sspr - for further guidance download the handbook above
  • Resetting your password can take up to 1 hour to update in your account

I’ve changed my mobile phone

If you have an existing account but have changed your mobile phone since setting up multi-factor authentication contact us. Your account will need to be reset by our team.

Your Athlete Performance Award Application

How to make your Athlete Performance Award application

  • Make sure your personal details and contact details are correct. It’s important you keep this information up to date so we can get in touch with you and make payments to you.
  • Before starting the process make sure you have any supporting documents to hand related to your income. It’s important you read the guidance and accurately record your figures.
  • To make an application you will need to complete the income assessment:
    • Go to Income Assessments then Create Income Assessment.
  • Once submitted your application will be reviewed within a few working days.

How to accept your Athlete Performance Award

  • You’ll be contacted with your Athlete Performance Award offer by email, using the details you provided on the Athlete Zone.
  • Login to Athlete Zone
  • Go to My Offers then My Pending Offers
  • Review and accept your offer.
