Simon leads UK Sport’s events strategy and hosting programme, which has helped establish the UK as one of the world’s leading hosts of international sporting events.
Over the last 20 years he has overseen investment into the bidding and staging of more than 200 World and European events in the UK, and has been a Non-Executive Director on the Boards of the Organising Companies for the World Athletics Championships and World Road Cycling Championships. Simon is UK Sport’s SRO for EURO28 and an observer on the UK&I 2028 Ltd Board.
He is also responsible for leading UK Sport’s work to develop a strong and connected national sporting system, including the organisational health of the national sporting bodies into which UK Sport invests, and supporting those bodies to work together as part of an effective system. Simon also leads UK Sport’s External Affairs teams, driving International Relations, Public Affairs, Media and Communications Strategies. Simon has worked in international elite sport for 25 years.
Before joining UK Sport, he was Head of Marketing at the International Badminton Federation.
