Previous Campaigns

Since 2007, the UK Talent Team (the campaign arm of the Performance Pathway Team) has worked in partnership with 20 Olympic and Paralympic sports and over 100 World Class coaches; run 12 National athlete recruitment campaigns, and assessed over 7000 athletes. These projects have resulted in over 100 newly identified athletes entering the World Class system across 17 sports with over 450 international appearances made and over 150 international medals won.

Several of these athletes were selected to represent Great Britain at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games and 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games.

  • Girls4Gold Army

UK Sport, the British Army and the English Institute of Sport joined forces to launch a ground breaking talent programme aimed at identifying future Olympic medallists from within the ranks. The collaboration reached out into the garrisons and units to identify women in targeted sporting disciplines who possessed the potential to go all the way to the podium in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and beyond.

  • Target Tokyo

British Shooting conducted a nationwide search for athletes across all shooting disciplines (shotgun, rifle & pistol). The recruitment drive targeted focused and motivated individuals who have the desire to represent Great Britain and reach the Olympic podium. The ultimate aim of the project was to identify those shooters that had the potential to be developed for the 2020 Olympic Games.

  • Power2Podium: Skeleton

Power2Podium: Skeleton was aimed at talented males and females aged 17-25 who were competing in any sport at a regional standard and believed they could achieve Olympic success. No previous experience in skeleton was required, but athletes had to have the raw talent and capacity to develop under the guidance of elite coaches in a world class environment. The search was launched following Lizzy Yarnold's gold medal at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games and had over 1,100 applications.

  • Girls4Gold: Canoeing

Girls4Gold is the single most extensive female talent recruitment drive ever undertaken in Great Britain, seeking focused, powerful and motivated athletes who want to fulfil their Olympic or Paralympic ambition.
