Commenting on the announcements made by the British Paralympic Association this week on the selection of 54 athletes from disability athletics and para-equestrian to ParalympicsGB, UK Sport Chief Executive, Liz Nicholl, said: “Congratulations to the 49 athletes from disability athletics and the five athletes from para-equestrian dressage who have been selected to represent ParalympicsGB at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
“With the confirmation of these two squads, ParalympicsGB is now complete, with 288 athletes set to compete at the Games, along with a further 13 team members.
“UK Sport has supported Paralympic sport with almost £50 million of National Lottery, Exchequer and Team 2012 funding for the London cycle (2009-13), ensuring our athletes will be among the best prepared when the Games get underway in 47 days’ time.
“We wish them all the very best of luck and will be watching them with pride.”
