THE ALL England Netball Association (AENA) has announced the launch of the Fisher and Paykel Super Cup. The new event gets underway this weekend.
The competition comprises six new teams, playing each other on a round robin basis over three weekends. Playoffs will decide the inaugural winners on the final Sunday of the tournament.
Each of the six teams contains netballers from the England Open and Development squads, decided by AENA Performance Director Wai Taumaunu and England Coach Julie Hoornweg. Athletes from Australia, New Zealand and county teams also make up the squads.
The new teams taking part are Birmingham University Blaze, Team Bath Force, Northern Thunder, Northern Flames, London Hurricanes and Petchey London Tornadoes.
Ponds Forge International Sports Centre hosts the first weekend of action, with play moving to Concorde Sports Centre for the second and final weekends.
