Location: Bisham Abbey with attendance at International Events and training camps.
Type of contract: Part-time
Is to lead the provision of physiotherapy services to Canoeing’s Flat Water Racing Olympic squad athletes through the Olympic cycle to London 2012, working within a multi-disciplinary team (including both medical and coaching staff) to ensure the needs of the athletes are met.
This is a hands-on role involving the treatment of athletes on a weekly basis at Bisham Abbey, at International events and possibly training camps. In particular:
To lead the provision of physiotherapy services both domestically and abroad to meet the training and competition needs of elite senior athletes, co-ordinating additional support as necessary. British Canoeing operates from 2 High Performance Centres one at Bisham Abbey (kayak squad) and one at the National Water Sports Centre, Nottingham (canoe squad). The role will require close liaison with the senior physiotherapists in Nottingham
To personally deliver World Class physiotherapy treatment. There will be a requirement to attend International events and overseas training camps
To be an integral part of a World Class medical network that strives to consistently improve the physical wellbeing of the athletes
To develop and deliver both proactive and reactive strategies for injury management
To work with coaches and other support staff to improve the physical & mental preparation of the athlete. This will involve working with other physiotherapists at Bisham, providing mentoring as required.
