Commenting on the announcements made by the British Olympic Association this week on the selection of 57 athletes from 7 different sports to Team GB, UK Sport Chief Executive, Liz Nicholl, said: “Congratulations to the 57 athletes from Boxing, Canoeing, Cycling, Diving, Equestrian, Fencing and Weightlifting who have today been selected to represent Team GB at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

“As Team GB continues to take shape it is exciting to see the huge medal potential within this group, including some of our Olympic cycling Champions from Beijing and the female boxers who are set to make history as the first to represent Team GB at the Games.

“UK Sport has backed these sports in their Olympic preparations with a combined total of over £75 million of National Lottery, Exchequer and Team 2012 funding over the London cycle (2009-13).”

Boxing – £9,551,400
Canoeing – £16,176,700
Cycling – £26,032,000
Diving – £6,535,700
Equestrian – £13,395,100
Fencing - £2,529,335
Weightlifting - £1,365,157

Athletes selected for Team GB this week
Boxing (in addition to five boxers already selected) - Nicola Adams, Natasha Jonas, Savannah Marshall, Anthony Ogogo, Josh Taylor
Canoe sprint (in addition to five slalom canoeists already selected) – Ed McKeever, Liam Heath, Jonathan Schofield, Tim Brabants, Richard Jeffries, Jessica Walker, Rachel Cawthorn, Angela Hannah, Louisa Sawers
Cycling (Track, BMX, Mountain Bike) – Philip Hindes, Chris Hoy, Jason Kenny, Victoria Pendleton, Jessica Varnish, Steven Burke, Edward Clancy, Wendy Houvenaghel, Peter Kennaugh, Danielle King, Joanna Rowsell, Andrew Tennant, Geraint Thomas, Laura Trott, Liam Phillips, Shanaze Reade, Liam Killeen, Annie Last
