Judo made its debut on the Olympic programme at the 1964 Games in Tokyo and has appeared at every Games since, with the exception of the 1968 Games in Mexico City. A women’s competition was introduced at Barcelona 1992, following its appearance as a demonstration sport four years earlier, at Seoul 1988.
